Pauper’s Candle Company is making an effort to create candles that are Phthalate Free.  What are phthalates you may be asking?

Fragrance oils are made from natural and synthetic ingredients. These ingredients come in the form of powders, crystalline substances, and liquids.  Solvents are used to break down the powders and crystalline substances into liquid oils and one of these solvents is Di Ethyl Phthalate, DEP.  This solvent has been used for over 50 years and declared as safe to use.

In the past few years, individuals have been complaining of health issues that may be a result of the Phthalate solvent.  Different substances effect people in different ways.  We had a customer talk with us that phthalates can cause her headaches.  Many Fragrance oils have begun to be made without using this Di Ethyl Phthalate.

Sweet Orange, Vanilla Velvet, Salty Sea Air, Red Currant, White Ginger and Amber,  Dirt, Fresh Cut Grass, Tomato Leaf, Basil Sage Mint, Lavender, Patchouli Lavender, Mountain Lakes, Maiden Rock Trail, Pomelo Sage, and Hawaiian Mist (1 of 3 oils used is phthalate free)
